( cue the irritated, unsettled teenager textranting )
idk i havent had many of my own but its like watching some Alternate Experience bs it feels real but it's not like it has to be us, but like... someone we could have been but why are we "remembering" stuff that has nothing to do with our lives here why is retrospec pushing that why does it seem they expect we should be "thankful" for having our lives screwed with if these are memories and people are remembering things that have actually happened then it's in another, idk, maybe a past life a past life where people speak different languages or are probably spies or see animals that don't exist even if it's futuristic
so i dont really have theories all i have is immense irritation that retrospec apparently thinks we should care but doesnt bother telling any of us why we should freaking care about the lives were not living why does it matter what are they getting out of this what are we getting out of this its all stupid
[While he's tempted to type "r u ok", he decides not to be an asshole since these are all questions he has, too.]
good point. why IS retrospec actually so determined to make us visualize these things? some people have speculated mass hallucinations, but the thing about it is that hallucinations can't make you feel memories or speak languages or get stuck in the ceiling or wait who do you know that might be spies or can see animals that don't exist? I mean Thalia and I had the same memory of meeting at a DRAGON'S CAVE. a DRAGON so is it futuristic? or is it the past? maybe it's a city-wide stress test? don't they do that for soldiers and astronauts and stuff? how much have you remembered on your own anyway...?
no the seventeen year old who lives on his own is not "okay" with this stuff )
uh mostly figure skating stuff why the hell do you get something like a dragon? a dragon! was it badass? were you badass or was it one of those "running for our lives" things i've heard both idk future, past, alternate reality, what other sci fi theory can we run with city wide stress test makes no sense when we're getting such wildly different reactions though wait you're having shared memories of the same thing with someone?
why figure skating...? and I don't know, if I had that answer I wouldn't be asking questions! and maybe? I don't really remember much about the dragon itself but we probably fought it? or avoided it because it wanted to kill us, that part's pretty hazy alternate reality would make sense but aren't those things usually kept separate from actual reality? it's like a bleed then but...yeah. have you ever met thalia grace? her. she got the dragon memory, too
i have no idea. uh, alternate reality isn't like subbing in for "actual" reality pretty sure each reality is actual for each place and all the other ones are "alternate" no, i haven't. but it's ? nice ? weird to know someone else is dreaming the same thing i've seen someone in one but i'm not sure that was a hallucinomemory dreams are weird enough anyway
so like twilight zone kind of crazy. but you'd think the two realities meeting or whatever would make the whole thing clash or erase one to become the true superior reality it's. weird. I'm debating if I'm grateful for it or not but I'm leaning toward not because that makes it more likely to have some validity to it you saw someone in one of yours like...someone here? what else would it have been?
look if we're dealing with realities devouring each other we're screwed until someone helpfully remembers "oh wait i can fix realities tearing themselves apart that's kind of useful" uh a dream? like we're getting these hallucinomemories it kind of makes sense if you know they start crossing over with just... weird dreams
don't even joke about that yet the only reason I'm not sold on these things being weird dreams is that I remember way too much detail about them. do you usually remember your dreams that much?
not usually, but i can tell you since the "memory" stuff started happening there's definitely some weird dreams mixing them up with other stuff buuuut thats probably normal brain taking everything and trying to make sense of it all when youre sleeping
that's science I can get behind. too bad our brains didn't get the memo but that makes as much sense as anything else know a lot of people who're getting dreams too?
what if we bribe people into talking about these things? I'm willing to bet there's a lot of people out there hanging on to the information they have because they don't think it's worth sharing
bribe them with what exactly? im a fulltime student working on top of getting dance work where i can and taking dance classes the rest of the time time and money are both things i dont have
okay well, I'm not a timelord or anything but money is something I DO have people pay people for participating in studies all the time, what if we ran something like that? think it'd be worth anyone's while?
( considering his first thought is YES I WOULD PARTICIPATE FOR MONEY
he has to evaluate how financially motivated he can be as well as what Luke
is saying as applied to other people. only he's fairly sure more would be
willing to work with that kind of incentive than a "share and care with
everyone because you're Generous" altruistic approach. )
you're paying people, at least a few dozen will take you
up on that, so yeah. if that's information not coming from anywhere I
guess that's the way of making it happen thatd work. better than asking
and hoping people are all "sure I will spend time telling you things for no
reason past the goodness of my heart."
I was hoping to bribe people with drinks, but if people your age are experiencing these things even more than people that're of legal age I need a new incentive. money talks no matter what. if I get around to setting up a study, I'm putting you in charge of spreading the word. we've got a deal?
