Either way, assume that Luke found your character in person, sent a message via Furry Passing or contacted them via some other means to inform them about a group meeting up in the Captain's Quarters after the wedding to talk about their findings from the day before.

He's not a leader, and it's probably clear from the way he's leaning against the wall next to the whiteboard and dumping handfuls of space-brand Skittles into his mouth.]

All right…so this happened. [This, of course, being the top deck.] We were all up here yesterday and so we should probably start figuring stuff out. It weirds me out that Alice let us up here now after all this time. [He shrugs.] Who wants to go first?

Well, you don't install it, kiddo, first of all. You don't install much with an AI.

[ He shrugs ]

I mean, you give them their base set of data to pull from, but from there? It's heuristic algorithms. Because, I mean, you're thinking about it like people are that different, but we've gotta learn all that shit too. Least where I'm from? It's easy to make an AI that gains sentience. All the algorithms and data are there, your problem is just the base set.

[ He turns his head slightly to tap on the data port that's just behind his ear. It's very unobtrusive and not very noticeable, but a closer look now that Jack has pointed it out makes it clear that something is meant to be plugged into it. ]

And, I mean, with data ports? That's simple. You can turn your whole friggin' life into data.

[ Well, now that we're talking AI, Jack is here to helpfully (?) interject where appropriate. ]

Oh, hell yeah they can. So long as it's sentient? It's a person, kiddo.

[ He shrugs ]

Whiiiich, granted, Al might not be, but if I were to guess? I'd say she was. So, point is, wouldn't count on her not being able to tell us to go screw ourselves.

This AI seems to pick and choose what it listens to, but it's worth a shot. ...It can't access up here, we have to go downstairs to chat, right?

[ He ultimately can't understand that, but he's clearly trying to listen. And also focusing on not making a horrified face when Jack points out the data port. ]

Uh. Alright. We've only just started making robots where I'm from, so it sound like we're a long way from that. But do you think that because of their access to where you're from, they'd also have all that information?

We can ask her once we get an idea of what we'll need as a group. Maybe we can have a nice question and answer session with her.

[ Jack looks surprised, but he ends up laughing and shooting her back a smile that looks very pleased with himself. ]

Nahhh, never, unfortunately. You never know with AI! Sometimes they're real helpful and actually could help you out ooooor, y'know, they're lying dicks that turn off gravity and oxygen. Since I'm totally blaming her for that.

[ Jack nods, but before he speaks, there is a pause like he's considering something. ]

I mean, yeah, absolutely. I make AI. Not my specialty, but I've got enough of a knack for it that I can whip something up for the Loader Bots in my sleep.

[ That's... probably more than a knack, Jack. ]

But, I mean. Considering that message? I've gotta admit, I'm thinking way more along the lines of the tech we have on Hyperion for the dataports. I mean, you start talking brain scans and preserving some part of someone? I'm going to be thinking exactly along the lines of uploading that life's worth of experience into data, honestly.

Yeah... We should start listing up questions, then. Maybe hash out the ways she'll misinterpret them so we can avoid a bunch of runaround questions, too.

Then do you know what would cause an AI to not realize someone is dead for months? Would it really be memory loss?

[ At least there's someone here who understands what's happening. ]

The brain scans are... yeah, I guess I'm not clear on that either. In that sense, they'd have at least part of our data to do with what they please. So what did they do with it exactly? Recreate us?

[Well. None of this bodes well. Don't mind Jason as he ignores the unfortunate implications and holds up the notes relevant to his world, left glove still off and red lantern ring on after #furryweddings. He seems oddly pleased by the data they gathered on Earth-One.]

Oh, yeah. They definitely did their research. Gotta give props to them for that.

Could be bodies. Unless they're tossing a corpse out the airlock every weekend, they have to be storing all our dead guys somewhere.

Cryo containment or whatever is a sci-fi standard, so I could buy it.

If you expect me to really know what that is, I think I need to remind you that I've never seen a bunsen burner before coming on this ship. But if it's something standard maybe we're finally getting somewhere. What else is sci-fi standard?

Uh, it's just super putting bodies on ice but you can keep them alive. Like, in movies when someone gets cryo'd and wakes up a hundred years in the future...what else is sci-fi standard, though.

[ dave thinks about it. ]

I already said it wasn't easy. You could at least try to listen when others know more than you. [he zips back to hover next to Adrien] Undoing death is a pain and not worth all the cheese in the world, but humans desperate enough have always found ways around their problems.

I kinda wish we could all have laser swords at this point. Or at least have access to the stuff in the weapons locker since none of that makes a ton of sense. I guess I can't imagine how anybody can stay alive on ice. Your temperature would fluctuate too much I would think but like I said, I don't know much about sci-fi. I've been kinda living a whole other life that doesn't make sense.

[Mythology, man.] It just means there's more to expect.

I did mention zombies, you're right. But there's a different between zombies and...whatever's going on here. I didn't think zombies could be intelligent so maybe I'm not one.

[Thanks Luke. But his expression softens a tiny bit as it usually does by now when Adam says something he really wants to believe, but he shrugs.] Of course I would, but. [...yeah how do you argue?
